Have any of you ever or now been fans of the Oakridge Boys? My husband and I followed them around for a few years then our business got going and we could only follow one group. You know that had to be Gordon and the guys.

Okay, no ORB fans. How about Don Williams? :)

I enjoyed Don Williams back in the day. I'm too lazy to search for his hit song titles that now escape me. I do remember seeing him perform on television a few times, and he sort of reminded me of Lightfoot, very quiet and understated. To me, he also falls into the troubadour category.

Yes, RMD Don Williams does fall into the troubadour category. He is know for songs like, "Good Ol' Boys like me, I believe in you, Amanda, just to name a few. My husband and I saw him at a wonderful small venue named The Crazy Horse Saloon several times. It was a few years ago but he does remind us of Gordon. Thank you for responding.

Hey! I like the Oak Ridge Boys!!! Just talking silly once, I told my Dad that I wanted to start an all girl band that was a copy of the Oak Ridge Boys. I wanted to do the bass parts. :D
I have never really followed any group or singer that much, I just like to listen to music sometimes.
I only have 3 Gordon Lightfoot records, but I always loved and liked him. I don't think it was ever any certain song or anything, I just always liked him even before I bought the first album. Saw only one concert. Boo-hoo, now I miss him. I used to have this one funny friend here in Superior,(she was my best friend in this town, but she passed away.) We used to make each other laugh. She'd be in her early 70's now. Anyway, I was telling her about seeing him in concert and she used to kid me about him singing for his supper, and she asked me if I was going to sing for my supper too. I told her no, but gimmie some supper and I might sing. :)

Hi Patti,
I don't think wanting to have an all girl band and copy the ORB is silly. : What a great group to want to be like. My husband and I use to follow them around then we decided to stick to one man. "The Man",it was really me more than him. :D I have been following Gordon and his Orchestra for 30 years and am so lucky I have taken every chance to see him.
If you ever get to California let me know. You can sing for me and I will make you supper.
P.S I am a good cook!
I love both ORB and Don WIlliams. Especially Don!

I liked the Oak Ridge Boys, EXCEPT THAT HORRIBLE SONG ELVIRA  , but I was always more of a Statler Brothers fan and kind of always felt like the ORB's copied the Statlers.

Thanks everyone for chatting. I think the only other male singer I truly have enjoyed for a long time is Don Williams. I met him once and he was very nice. I was a member of his fan club a long time ago. I wanted to try to see the Oaks this year but I don't think they have any plans to come to California. The only person I would travel for is Gordon.
Look out Texas. Here I come!
