Toronto Roots Music Festival-PICTURE link-Char

the 3rd annual Toronto Roots Music Festival http://www.torontocityroots.com/ was held this weekend in Toronto. The location was the Distillery District http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/ where Gooderham & Worts had buildings for the manufacturing of whiskey. The buildings have been fixed up and house beautiful boutiques/art galleries/ workshops for multiple artisans. There are restaurants and cafes and stages were set up throught the walkways and open spaces for the performers. The weather was glorious and the music was fabulous. Lisa and I ventured down by GO train and made our way to the festival in time to say a quick hi and bye to Aengus who had performed earlier in the day. At Aengus's suggestion we took photos. lol!
Jory sang for 45 minutes on one stage and shortly after was performing on another stage! What a guy! And as usual he was great! It certainly made the stresses of the week disappear to see and hear him and say hi to Aengus..

Char, first of all I don't understand the weather! It rained again this weekend here, to the point of washing out some small roads we were on. It looks like it was wonderful there!

I'm glad you decided to go, it must have been good to get out and great to see Jory and Aengus again. I envy you that!

I notice that this seems to be right next to the St. Lawrence Market. Did you see my buddy Barbara? Your pictures made me realize that I missed going up there this year, and can't wait till Nov.

Sounds and looks like you had a great time. Good for you getting out and enjoying the day. I tell you what, that Aengus is a very attractive feller - lovin' that long hair and beard.

I love the old architecture and history of downtown Toronto. Are any of these places within walking distance of The Delta? I've never seen Toronto in winter, not sure if I'm looking forward to the weather aspect of November :) Does it typically snow that early in the season?

I know in New Hampshire, we rarely had snow before January (there were the occasional exceptions in the 15 years I lived there - and when they happened, it made for a very long winter). In those 15 years, I saw 1 white Thanksgiving, 1-2 white Christmases and at least 13 white Easters. We even had snow in May one year. Certainly much different from when I lived there the first time, back in the late 60's

Char Beautiful City! Looks like you all had a good time Charzo. Lisa looks great and is having lots of fun. Like Janice said, great architecture in those pics! thanks for posting them.

It's been beautiful weather here for a week or more - little or no humidity, blue skies, around 75-80 during the day and cooling down in the evenings so it's lovely to sleep.

The St. Lawrence Market is about a 15 minute walk (no window shopping) from Front and Yonge and the Distillery District is another 10 or so still heading west. From the Delta it would be too far in the cold (speaking for myself) but Toronto Transit would have you down in that area in minutes. Lots of taxis too!
Perhaps staking out a route in the undergound PATH would help to get you down to Yonge & Front:

There's a whole city under Toronto!!

Mid November - hmmm....we generally have no snow to speak of at that time but it's cold for you California, Texas, Florida etc. folks.....

The old bank at the corner of Yonge & Front has some beautiful details outside but when you go inside to the Hockey Hall of Fame http://www.hhof.com/ it's astounding. All the old details are still intact. The real old CUP is kept in one of the vaults! lol. The one they tour with is on display tho.
There are some wonderful tours of Toronto for all different purposes and I know there are some for architecture lovers...There are some pretty nice places - old/new/private homes and otherwise all over the city.

Well Char, as Im looking at these photos, you outdone yourself this time. :) This is the most beautiful thing you have done so far for me anyway.

That city is so beautiful, even the Yonge Street sign brings back some memories. The beautiful CN Tower, I suspect you didn't go? If so why no photo from the tower? :(

Im guessing that the lovely young lady is your daughter Lisa. :eek: Must be great for her to have such a cool mom, that is friends with a lot of Canadian singer songwriters, even the poet himself Gord. :rolleyes:

Your a lucky woman Charlene, to live in close to Toronto. And be able to go to these music festivals, and chat with performers. :eek:
