If'n any of you are into some serious loud-louder-loudest fantastic punk/R&R/alt.country, there might just be a tour comin' to your town.

Sweet Lady Miranda founder herself in CA, so I took her to the OC Fair for the concert. It was Mighty!

Peter Case (The Plimsouls) is a long time friend and folk singer these past 20yrs. Lotsa great CDs.

X - w/ Johnny Doe, Excene & the originals haven't lost a drop of blood. Their talke on the oldie Warm California Sun will raise your toupee (and if you don't have one, it'll make you a candidate)

I Like Loud!

The Bill was either in San Francisco this past weekend or next weekend. Forgot to ask Peter where?

Probably Muir Woods.

I goofed.

The review of the OC Fair gig was last week. The review in today's LA Times was about The Knitters - a side group of "X" w/ Johnny Doe & Dave Alvin from The Blasters.

They do roots stuff and alt.country, trad country things. It's great to see these rockers other side - and they do it well.

I'm not sure how I missed this when you first posted it, Rez, but thought you might like to know that Peter Case played our series last weekend (for the third time) and Dave Alvin will be playing November 5.

Both guys play solo at our place, but in the case of Peter, it's still a phenominal show and I'm sure the same will be of Dave.

Janice,

I've always enjoyed the SD Street Fair when I've gone. The music just keeps gettin' richer & richer.

It's funny how things come around. Peter, Dave, and brother Phil were among the kids who used to hang around Downey studios where The Rumblers, Chantays, & Pastel Six did our recording.

The studio was in back. In front was a record store. Kids would just hang out, explore old LP gems, and think "us big record guys" were, well, "big record guys."

So, if you see Peter Case, Dave or Phil Alvin, tell 'em Howdy from The Rumbler Sax Guy Rex.

Yrs later, when The Plimsouls & Blasters blossomed, I'd take my boys to their concerts. We'd go back stage and my little boys would look at those "big record guys" just like back in the day.

Peter and, then wife, Victoria Williams played at my brother-in-law's wedding in Seattle. Dave and Phil shine separately these days, but not astranged.

Very good people. I hadn't seen Peter in while till The Plimsouls summer re-union. Good to chat again. Looking soon to get w/ Dave again at The Knitters thing.

Anytime any one or all come to your town - Go!

Thanks for the info about both Peter & Dave, Janice.

So, I switched to Sanka,
