OOOPS

Got my first ticket in like 15 years yesterday morning. Quarter to six, on my way to work. *sigh* I got rearended a while ago, and one of taillights is out, apparently. I did replace the bulb, but there must be a short. Lucky me. That's not why I got the ticket though. Driving w/o insurance. yeah, yeah, I know. So much for "be careful while bending the law". So now, I have insurance (yet another bill to pay-at least it's not another mouth to feed). I guess that makes me a real adult now. lol. now I have to go to court and get the HUGE ticket reduced or revoked.
So I guess I got my Friday the 13th bull out of the way early. (sarcasm, not superstitious in the least)

Yeah, they reduce the ticket if you show up at the court clerks office with insurance. Not telling how I know that, I just do. At least in California that's how it works. Sorry about the ticket http://www.corfid.com/ubb/frown.gif

I got a damnation ticket last week on the PA Pike. $173!!!! 79 mph in a 55 mph speed trap! I was driving a rental for work. I wonder if I can expense the ticket?? Prior to this, I had no points on my license. Yes I have had tickets before, but none in the last 4 years. Oh well, looks like my slump is over and my batting % will go up!

Ah, I'm hoping they reduce it waaaay down.
I might get lucky and have to about what Watchman's ticket is for. My ticket was $538. OUCH. It works the same in Washington as far getting the ticket reduced. He really should have impounded the car, which is also how it works here, but he didn't. Lucky.

It is expensive to get caught with no insurance. Wow. They could have towed the car and in Ohio, could have tossed you in the pokey and took your driver license away. $40 of my ticket in Pa. (I live in Ohio) was for a special little fund for those who drive without insurance, get into accidents and can't pay. My $40 will help pay for some poor soul who get's hit by an uninsured motorist.

Hey, the good news is that I saved on my car insurance with Geiko.

Yeah, well, the trick I've discovered is remembering to put the proof of insurance in the car or have it on your person. Not my best subject.

Well, Watchman, no one was paying extra for me. "I've seen a few, but whatever I do, I don't cause no accidents". heh. not a one. Although, I've had an uninsured motorist rearend me last year while I sat at a stoplight. little bad karma, I guess.
In Washington, he definitely should have impounded the car and left me standing on the side of the freeway, but he didn't.

VBH, yeah, mine's in my pocket right now...guess I better remember to take it out before I do laundry. Into the glove box, where it will get lost in the 3 years or so worth of car crap...

Be careful out there LSH. A guy I know went a long time without auto insurance and one day he t-boned an old lady in a big black Caddy (nobody was hurt). Not a pretty sight and I hope the lady had uninsured motorist insurance. If not, I bet that was a hefty repair bill to hit the budget. For what it cost him to get his license back along with the fine, he could have gotten a year's worth of insurance. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I'm just griping at the fact that I was speeding and got a ticket. I also had to pay $30 into a fund so the Pa. State Police can upgrade their computer systems. Also $10 for EMS. The actuall speeding ticket was only $73!

I always keep my cars spotless including the glove box. The only thing that is ever in glove box in the car manual, a couple pens, registration, proof of insurance, matches and that's it. Well almost it. Easy to whip that registration out just in case. I get pulled over because I don't have a front plate on one of my cars because I refuse to trash the grill to drill holes. The car did not come with a plate holder when it was new. So, until I can locate a grill I will keep getting the warnings. The only time I get pulled over is 2 in the morning when the bars close. They want to see if I have been drinking but no dice because I would never drink and drive, much less in a red Z28.

You're right, it was foolish to go so long without it. I just cut corners where I can until the kid is supporting himself (God only knows when that will happen). I'll just have to cut them somewhere else now.
I shudder to think if I had caused an accident and didn't have it. Of course, right now, I'm all about "liability only". Good thing my record is as clean as a whistle, except for that little "moving violation" (driving w/o insurance lol).
