I used to belong to a folk club at my school back in the early 70's and we used to sing a play Gordon Lightfoot songs which were always the most popular songs to learn. I am trying to find the words to a song called "Whisky on a Sunday." Looking through Gordon's catalogue, I cannot see it but wonder if anyone could tell me who wrote it. Great website tho''

The Irish Rovers have performed 'Whiskey on a Sunday' on several of their albums. Sorry, don't know who wrote it nor do I know all the words.

The website www.irishsongs.com. (http://www.irishsongs.com.) has the lyrics. The site is called "Irish songs by Donal O'Shaugnessy" but the author and copywrite date are blank, so I assume O'Shaugnessy recorded a version, but isnt the writer. It might be, like so many Irish favorites, an uncredited folksong.
The lyrics according to the website are as follows:
