Anyone else a fan? He passed on today in Paris from an apparent heart attack. He was only 54 with no history of heart disease. He was easily the best dressed rocker in history and a fascinating talent.

Another great talent lost too soon. With his custom tailored suits and power ties, Robert Palmer looked more like a corporate executive than a rock singer. And his "Simply Irresistable" video certainly makes my list of all-time favorite music videos! May he RIP...

I remember when Addicted To Love hit the charts, I bought the cassette, wore it completely out, then bought a second one and wore that out, too. I guess it's time to get the CD, something I should have done years ago. It's really sad that Palmer's death is what made me realize just how much I enjoyed his music.

It was only a few months ago I was listening to Robert Palmer being interviewed on the radio. Always an interesting speaker. My main memory is of the 'Addicted to Love' video, featuring Robert singing in front of a girl band playing white electic guitars, white drum kit and white keyboard. A very neat video. I remember reading somewhere that Robert called it "camp twaddle"

I had no idea really who he was when I bought Riptide, just loved the couple songs I'd heard off it. When I got to the record story and saw the cover of that album . . . I was in love. And then I fell is love with the music.

I guess some passings hit harder than others depending on what a person or their music meant in your life. And the 18 year old at work who said "Robert who" probably didn't help any. This was the same girl last week who also said "Yeah, Springsteen was hot looking once I guess."

Palmer was great, I think I liked the videos best though. We again went in a set of threes, Palmer, Plimpton and Gordon Jump. Back in the day, I always thought it would be better to just have a heart attack and go quick. But as I get older, and the people I care about get older, I would like at least a wee bit of warning. I just hate the shock of it all. Even Johnny Cash was a shock since he had just been released from the hospital.

Before I mention Palmer,let me mention we just lost Donald O'Conner yesterday too. Of course he's best known for his appearance with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in,"Singin' In The Rain". (A movie that should have been nominated and won best picture!) I always loved it when he and Kelly would go into the "Moses Suposes" song and dance number,it was really funny./// I've watched WKRP on TV Land the past 2 nights and I'm glad to see they mentioned G. Jump in much the same way that they did John Ritter. I always did like the Christmas Carol episode. As well as almost every episode of the show. /// When I 1st heard of Robert Palmer ever,it was when he joined up for the Power Station group headed by members of Duran Duran. I wanted to see them "live" when I heard they were touring but then he begged off touring with the group. Then he started doing his solo recordings (I did not yet know he'd had earlier hits in the 70s) and I thought they were O.K. but not phenomenal,except for,"Simply Irresistable",a video I watched like 200 times (guess why.) He had his last hit in early 1991. A medley version of the Marvin Gaye songs,"Mercy Mercy Me and I Want You",which got him a final top 20 hit. He simply vanished after that. While I honestly say that he was not one of my particular favorites,I will say that along with a loss to the creative community,it's also another loss of a person,to quote Michael Jackson,"Gone Too Soon". For these and all before,RIP. Amen.
