My wife and I were contemplating a vacation in Australia. To that end I did some research on the place, PLEASE. It would seem that the favoured art form in Australia is 'Painting by numbers'
The best singer to emerge is one, Slim Dusty.
The most outstanding Australian actor, Chips Rafferty.
We have cancelled our flight and are heading for Cambodia.

that's not very neighborly of you fbeye. You ought to at least visit for the sake of the rip tides region for swimming, or the great barrier reef for snorkeling, or the museum in Alice Springs that has the first holographic picture show, or any waterway wherein you take life in hand to visit due to crocodiles, or visit the famous beach where some guy who was an important Australian disappeared, or visit Canberra and don't forget to visit the Western fringe where you can play (is it mumbly peg) lawn bowling, or you can visit the very beach where it is believed the prisoners from England landed who found Australia.
But, Sydney is worth it all, period.
