Lightfoot helps lighten Pitfield's campaign debts
Failed mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield, who ended up with $250,000 in campaign debt, was serenaded this week at a fundraiser at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and not by provincial Tory Leader John Tory, who did say a few words.
Singing legend Gordon Lightfoot, whom she counts as a supporter, sang If You Could Read My Mind.
"He actually went home and got his guitar and came back," Ms. Pitfield said. "He just did the one song. You could hear a pin drop."
She says he invited her to a concert of his at Massey Hall, just days after she lost the election, to cheer her up. "I have said that the one benefit of losing the election was that I met Gordon Lightfoot."
