Well, Gord, I guess you can tell by all these birthday greetings just how much you are thought of by all of us. In all our cases you have made a big difference in our lives, since the first time we heard you on the radio, or at a concert, or on a friend's stereo. We listen to you to calm down, dream, fall in love, make it through the tough times, and appreciate life.
So, from all of us to you:
MAY YOU HAVE THE HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS
AND MANY,MANY MORE TO COME.

Happy Birthday!
I hope the coming years find you in good health, with a happy heart and a knowledge that you and your music mean more to so many people than they could ever express. The accomplishment of touching the world with your talent is astounding. Meeting you in Orillia this past July was truly an honour for me and one I will never forget. I understand you heard my name from town to town this summer from fellow Lightfoot lovers who came to see you. I find this quite amusing seeing as I have been a fan for 30 years, live up the road from Toronto and always kept my distance! Except for Hallowe'en 1993 when I dropped by with my children! It has been a true joy to have had your music in my life all these years and I rest easy knowing that I always will. I hope this finds you surrounded by your loving family and true friends. Know that all of us will be there in spirit, toasting a light in all our lives - you.

P.S. Say Hi and Thanks to Barry Harvey for me.
Dearest Gordon, I've enjoyed your music since i was 12. Many years have past since then and I always come back to your music. I've seen you many times over the years. I was thrilled to see you at Majestic Theater In Aug. One reason is I brought my girls with me. While they weren't too thrilled to see someone mommy liked the did passify me by tagging along (They really had no choice as the are only 6 & 11!) They surprised me on the way home to Geneva, By having little question and answers sessions about your music. They did tell me that they did know alot of your tunes because they hear them around the house. Only goes to prove they do pay attenion. Also now they can tell the difference between Your voice Clapton's and Joel's. All favorites but you top the list! Many warm wishes on your birthday and many more to come.Love Rosemarie

Gordon -
Thanks to you and the band for visiting Central PA not once, but TWICE this year. Saw both shows and got to speak with you briefly afterward, when you graciously gave me an autograph and posed for some pics. Your music has brought me through some rough spots, and is the one constant I have had in my life, so thank you very much! You have a terrific band and Barry Harvey is a nice fellow too. All the best and please come back to PA/MD again soon. Happy Birthday and God Bless!

Gordon,
Like many others, I've been under your spell since I first heard, "If You Could Read My Mind". Being a dreamer, your music always takes me away to good spaces. I've been searching for the man in the songs my whole life, but I guess there is only one you.
You have been such an inspiration to me. I am in the process of buying my first guitar, a Martin, and learning how to play it, thanks to you.
I love you Gord! Have a wonderful birthday!
I hope I get to say these things to you in person November 4th in Wabash, Ind. It'll be a 4-5 hour drive for me, but so worth it.

Through the highs and the lows and all the points in between. So on November 17th I will raise a glass of Laproiagh put on Gord's Gold (both 1 and 2) and drink your health.

I'm sitting here late at night
At my old desk in the yellow light
I'm working myself up to write a song
About a guy I've known for so long
This guy taught me how to carry a tune
And that the Sea of Tranquility is on the moon
He also showed me that love can be hard
And to always smile when I cut the cards
He's forgotten more about life than I'll ever learn
He's worked hard for every dollar that he has earned
And he can tell a great story from beginning to end
And he can cheer me up when I'm on the mend
He's spent most of his life out on the road
He's amazed at what's grown from the seeds that he sowed
For fifty years or more he's been sharing his gift
I think deep down he knows that he'll never quit
He made us all a promise when he sang his first song
It's a rare man these days who can keep his word for so long
He's made a lot of money from the records that we've bought
But it was never the money---it was respect that he sought
In all the world he's the finest troubador
But in my mind's eye I see him sitting on Susan's floor
Singing and smiling and playing his guitar
And drinking bad whiskey from an old jelly jar
This amazing guy---his name is Gord
And because of his music I'll never be bored
From "Rich Man's Spiritual" to "Uncle Toad Said"
And all the songs in between that run through my head
I'll always think of him as one of my best friends
And it's the kind of friendship that never ends
Tho' I've only met him twice to shake his hand
By the look in his eyes I know he understands
Just one more verse in this rough draft
You see I'm a novice in this particular craft
Alliteration, cadence, meter and rhyme
How the heck does Gord do it ---every time
So here's a Birthday wish my friend
May you find the road that never ends
May you recieve all of the blessings from the Lord above
And most of all I [and millions of others] wish you Love----

Happy birthday, Gord. I'm 60, play an old Martin D-18, and when I and friends sing around the campfire, Lightfoot songs are the highlights and always will be for me at least. Happy campin'.
Hi, Gord. I first heard your wonderful music in about 1968, when I heard "The Last Time I Saw Her" on an am radio. I didn't discover who the artist was until 1975, when I saw the title on an album in a record store in Minneapolis. I have been listening to you ever since, and you have provided countless hours of wonder to me, both with friends and alone.
Hope you have a very happy and healthy birthday and many happy returns of the day.
And thank you. Thank you so much.

Dear Gord,
Just wanted to get in on wishing you the brightest and best birthday wishes! I've been a fan since the early 70's when I heard Don Quixote while traveling with a friend. I immediately bought it at the first opportunity (on 8-track). Since that time, I have purchased many of your albums on vinyl, tape, and CD. I'd just like to let you know that your music and voice are timeless. I still listen to the vinyl and old 8-tracks that still work. Someday, I hope to get to see you live. I know you have performed around here in Kentucky, but it seems I always find out about it after the fact. Anyway, have a great birthday and keep the great music going.

Dear Gordon LIghtfoot, I am a scotsman who first discovered your music way back in the sixties. To say that I was captivated would be an understatment. My chance to see you perform live did not come until the mid seventies when you appeared at the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow.I travelled from Dundee on the east coast to the west for the concert,,.The evening was not the most enjoyable I ever experienced as the audience was very vocal and not at all sympathetic. You walked off....people began leaving...with a lump in my throat I prayed,,,You walked on,,,the crowd hushed...You said something like.."This is to prove this guy can still pull of f a tune "..then you started to sing..no backup, just you and your guitar,,When you finished I thought I would burst for joy,,my palms were sore for the clapping of them,my throat hoarse with the emotion that I felt..I will never forget that night...It is twenty odd years now and in that tyme I came to Canada on a whim seeking and finding adventure..From my travels east from Toronto by bus to the shining sea in the west I was carried overland singing the songs of Gordon Lightfoot..May the good lord bless you and keep you around for many birhdays to come..from your number one Scottish fan..Graham Donachie..

DEar Gordon,
Have been listening to your music since High School back in Detroit, Mich days. Too many years to mention. But we saw you for the first time while living in Los Angeles. When you sang about the Edmund Fitzgerald it made us very home sick. Didn't even know The Maritime Sailors cathedral existed until you sang about it. Now we always go by when we visit the area. We have enjoyed your music all these years. We have played it to our children and now you will be visiting Univ. of Missourri where our daughter goes to school and we will go there to hear you in concert there. Happy Birthday and may you keep on wrinting moe great songs. Please sing Don Quiote when you come.

Happy Birthday Gordon. I just watched your special on Canadian Television and you are as great as ever. I saw you perform at HARRAH'S Reno about 17 years ago and was lucky enough to meet you with a group of people and hear songs from the album you were about to release at that time. The best to you in all you do and may this be your best birthday ever. Celeste CLSMITH528@aol.com

The Happiest of Birthdays to you Gordon Lightfoot
The first time I heard you sing I was 10 years old. Now at forty it seems like a
life time ago. You are one of those singers that we will never forget. Your songs
have so much depth and soul to them. You can be in the lousiest of moods, put
on one of your songs and it takes you away to a special place, and makes you feel like you're on top of the world again.
I watched a live concert on CBC on Oct.15/2000, your voice still has that something special. And boy, did you bring back some memories. I told my 12 year old son that I started to listen to your tunes when I was his age. He was
dumbfounded, and believe it or not, he sat there with me and watched the rest of the concert. Both him and I really enjoyed it.
So, not only do you have the old die hard fans still listening to you, you may also
have peeked interest in the younger generation and hopefully have a new following.
I hope you have the best birthday...and many more to come.

Mr. Lightfoot,
Hoping your birthday is a great one. I'll be seeing you in Kansas City on November 8th. It will be my third (and hopefully not my last) concert. I'd love to meet you and say "Thanks" in person for all of the great music. I've been listening to your songs since I first heard "Cherokee Bend" from the "Cold on the Shoulder" album. It was my older brother's 8-track tape (I can't believe it was that long ago) and I would listen to it when no one else was home. I've been a fan ever since.
Thanks again for all the great music and enjoy your birthday. I'm wishing you many more. Take care.

Dear Gordon:
I can only hope that thru some miracle of modern technology this message actually reaches you...
First of all, happy birthday!
I am 33 years old and living in Edmonton, Alberta. I first heard your music, as many did, way back when I was 5 or 6 years old. I started playing the guitar at the age of 7, primarily due to your influence. Thank you so much for the many years of great music.
As I got older, I trained in classical guitar and followed that route for some time. I periodically teach classical guitar and am the founder of our local classical guitar society which now has over 50 members. I have not persued my folk/country roots for some time now, but I recently tuned into your Canadian TV concert special on October 15/2000 (recorded in Reno, NV) and within seconds from when you started playing the first song my hair started to stand up. It was then I realized how powerful and influential your music has been on me. The next day I went out and purchased the 4 cd set "Songbook" and have been enthralled with it.
Your recent concert in Edmonton at the Winspear Centre was sold out so fast, I did not have a chance to get tickets. I can only hope for next time..
Finally, do you think at some point in the future you may run a workshop for guitarists/singers?? Im sure there are many (including myself) that would cherish the opportunity to learn from you...
Sincerely;
Dwayne

Happy Birthday! Gordon
Your music has always given much pleasure to me. My teenagers would tease me about listening to "That Folksinger" so you can imagine my surprise when I walked into my sons room and he was listening to SUNDOWN. All he said was "there's something about this guys songs that keeps drawing you back to listen to them". He was right, I've been listening almost 30 yrs.
From the bottom of my heart I wish you a wonderful birthday and many, many, more.
Sincerely,

Happy belated B-Day Gordon Lightfoot! So good to have you in the world. You have inspired me and my own song writing since the early seventies. I know it's all been said before, but thank you for the songs that have meant so much to so many over the years and will continue to inspire well into the future. Every time I go north here in Michigan you are with me in spirit. As I cross the great bridge I sing the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and I am thinking of you as I venture up to the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum. The first time I ventured out to the point there was nothing but an unmanned light, fog horn, and emerald green ice to greet the visitor. A quite desolate place, silent except for the periodic blast of the horn. This was right at the time of the tragic sinking of the Fitzgerald and after having heard your classic ballad of its demise I couldn't help but think of the freighter going down out there just beyond the point. I came home and wrote a song dedicated to the point called, appropriately, Whitefish Point. My writing has been inspired by you many times since. Thank you for touching my soul so profoundly.

Dearest Gord,
Happy birthday! I have you in my heart for 29 years now. Since then, I've been playing your songs at the piano almost every day. But on November 17th I'll save my breath to blow 62 white candles for you. Keep doing your great, fantastic songs. Let me confess I still miss the four albums which did not come out on CD. Would you please make them released? Hugs from a friend from Brazil,
Heartfully, Carlos Mendes-Rosa.

I wish you a wonderfully "Happy Birthday" Gordon Lightfoot!!
I want you to know that I am 29 and since I can remember I have been listening to your wonderful music. My mother was a huge fan and she could always be found with a drink in her hand, candles burning & a "Gordon Lightfoot" eight track playing. So needless to say I was raised on you.
Luckily, before my mother passed away in 1991, she was able to see in concert in Des Moines, IA. I know it was one of lifes highlights for her! So, at her funeral we played a trilogy of your songs. "The Last Time I saw Her", "Wherefore And Why",and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". We know she was smiling down on us that day.
I have seen you in concert twice in Des Moines and they were both the best ever! I just want to wish you a Happy Birthday and to say that "If You Could Read My Mind", you know I would be saying THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth from Webster City, IA

Happy Birthday, Mr. Lightfoot! May this message find you enjoying inner peace and serenity.
Your music's been a part of my life for so long now. "If You Could Read My Mind" was your first song I heard. I was about 14 at the time, and I've been a fan ever since. Your music's been there when I've been confused, sad, happy, in love. It's made me think and touched my heart, and for this I thank you.
Again, happy birthday, and enjoy what life has to bring, one day at a time.
P.S. Do you think you could do a concert in Colorado Springs?

Dear Gord, Every time you were in Thunder Bay I was somewhere else. Oh how I wanted to meet you. I hav every song book and tape or at least most of them. How do you thank someone who has been a lifetime of inspiration as you and your music have been to me. You are clearly unequaled Gord and it gives me such pleasure to add to this list of friends and admirers in wishing you the best birthday ever and many more. I learned to play the guitar when I was 14 and finger style so I could play your style. I bought a big old D-18 and spend many hours pickin out those highway songs and singin them as well. I became an entertainer and started out singing Lightfoot songs in coffee houses halls and bars and right up to this day your songs are the most popular. Every song has such meaning especially songs like "son for a winters night" and spanish moss to mention a couple. I still live with the hope to see you in person someday and once again I wish you the smoothest road and the bluest skies ever. sincerely a fan for life, Cliff Redden , RR#3 Thunder Bay Ontario Canada P7c 4v2

Dear Gordon: Thanks for so many wonderful songs. I remember "If you could read my mind" the best. I loved it when I first heard it, I sang it in small shows and college concerts in New England and other locales over the years, always feeling the intensity of the emotion in that song. When I was getting divorced five years ago, (that is when the news first hit me), I took my kids to a playground to play, and I also brought my guitar. I played that song again, this time with a feeling that can only come from living an experience similar to what the song tells. It was such a comfort to be able to express my loss by singing your song. Over the last thity years that I've been playing guitar and writing songs, you have always been an inspiration. I first saw you at the Academy of Music in Pennsylvania, around the time of the "Sundown" LP. Great, incredible music. My girlfriend at that time, who was familiar with your music, said, "Wow, I remember when Gordon Lightfoot was only solo or with just a bass player". I was in the U.S. Coast Guard at the time, and I was desparately trying to get better on the guitar, (having played for only about two years or so then), and she took me to a little music store to by the songbook for "Sundown". I still have it. In fact I was playing "somewhere U.S.A. last night, figuring out the lead patterns, and also playing the melody to my six year old son as he was trying to fall asleep. My middle son says I should go back to singing and I'd be a much happier man, and I believe he is right! My daugher, who is the oldest, and who is into the music of her generation, also says to me she loves "Ghosts of Cape Horn", "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", "If You Could Read My Mind", and so many other songs. She's been to your concerts a couple of times. I'd like to take the boys sometime God willing. The other most unique story I have about your music is that while I was playing in a lounge in the former Holiday Inn in Springfield, MA (it used to have a restaurant at the top which rotated 360 degrees while people ate, drank and listened to music); I was singing the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, (which though it belongs to you has in the past made me pretty well known in the region), and then this salesman, who I guess traveled the country at the time and didn't listen to the radio much, came up to me and told me that the song really struck him in an emotional way because though he had never heard your song until he heard me sing it that night; he had been on the shore of the great lake where the tragedy occurred, in a camper, listening to the weather and news reports, and had contemporaneously perceived the tragedy by listening to it on the radio that night...that was really incredible to me. I wonder how long it would have been before he actually heard you sing it. Probably not too long. I've also always loved singing "Song For A Winter's Night", "Circle of Steel" "Fine as Fine Can Be", "Pussywillows-Cattails", "Affair On Eighth Avenue", "Early Mornin' Rain", "I'm Not Supposed To Care", "Carefree Highway", "Sundown", "14-Karat Gold"(you must have written that song for guys like me who need to try to sell their songs a little bit harder! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif "Now and Then" "Canadian Railway Trilogy" "All The Lovely Ladies", etc., etc., etc. I can truly say that your songwriting style is absolutely incredible, though I enjoy many types of music and am inspired by many artists; if you were to sit and listen to me play the songs which I write, you would see echoes of your style...you have been the best music teacher, (and coach, I still get a grin on when I read the notes at the bottom of one of your songs where you instruct the novice player in how to get the effect, saying you can finger pick, and if you can't do that you can use a flat pick, and if you can't do that...get a job!" You can't believe how much your talent and blessings of your music have meant to me and my children all these years. I have not echoed you in one way though, and that is that I've never really tried to sell my songs yet, I guess I was lacking confidence or got distracted by my marriage, or by my now chosen profession (God gives us one face...and we make for ourselves another), and so they sit in the safe except when I do a local show or something for the kids. Because your music has been such an influence, I hope to record and sell my tunes, and that some day you can hear, on the radio, the influence you have had on me. It would be great to have the chance to have you hear it, not for any help, or assistance, or critique or anything self-serving, but just so you could see the quality of your inspiration. You are a man who is many times blessed, deservedly so, and God Bless you forever sir. It was quite a beautiful experience to access this website and see the many fans who have written to you for your birthday. Add me to the list Gordon. I pray and wish for you on your birthday and for every day that you will always have the best of everything, the blessings of God, the love of your family, fans, health and happiness all the days of your life. Though it's just a fan's, and a songwriter's wish, to meet you sometime, and of course to get a chance to hear you sing again many more times. You've still got it in a big way Mr. Lightfoot, and you always will. You know, I sing "Home from the forest" some times and it makes me think about my grandfather, my dad and my children and how life is so uncertain as to how we all end up. I have a hard time getting through that song these days because it is so emotional to sing it. When I was a younger man with no children of my own, I understood some of your songs, but I was unable to really feel the emotion until years later, with experiences of life to add to the singing! What I can't get over is the fact that as a songwriter you had so much depth to your music and lyrics at such a young age. It had taken my about 25 years to even come close in most respects, never mind actually understanding the feelings behind the words. Anyone can read a great poem or song lyric, and feel some of what the writer is writing. You however created such incredible lines, at such a young age that it is truly phenomenal. I don't think you need to hear anymore of such praise, as you probably hear it all the time to the point that you are tired of it. But I am thankful for this forum to express these thought to you, especially on the occasion of your updoming birthday. This is because I have not had luck in getting to say these things in person before, (since when I sent you a letter and some unsolicited tapes by mail, and also through your road manager at a local concert; I realized that you must be bombarded with this stuff by the thousands). So I just gave up trying to contact you. I still hope someday to meet you, preferrably with my three children at a concert sometime so that they can say that they too met you. Though it is still only a dream to me, I hope that you will be able to hear some of my better songs, like I said earlier, so that you can see the effect of your inspiration, your teaching of me without even trying. This would not be to solicit your comments, or critique, or your help, but just so you can see once again, how incredibly you have affected this "North American's Life". Well, I guess I've told it pretty much like it is, and I wish you the very best, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! : ) PS -By the way, your birthday and my dad's are only a couple of days apart, as is my parent's wedding aniversary. I wrote a song about them partly inspired by your style called "And their Golden Wedding Rings". They've been married about 59 years now, and I wrote it on the occasion of the 50th annivarsary. Anyway, God Bless, and remember to "Go first in the world...and pity the stranger who stands at your door." And though I've had to "trade off my (his) Martins" over the years to keep the rent paid, it's been a "carefree Highway", long and happy for the most part, thanks in part to your music. I do have one thing to ask of you though and that is, if you can, and only if you remember the thoughts I've written here today, that the next time you take the stage, or even pick-up a guitar at home or in the dressing room to sing a song for a minute, please be sure to play at least one song especially for me and my children sometime Gordon. The request is "Home From The Forest", for Tom, Caitlynn, James and Joseph. You will always be truly remembered well and dearly loved for you musical gifts to us all. If I ever make it to the "big time" (I've only been a big fish in a small pond in 'Show-Biz'), I'll be sure to tell it like it is as to your influence and inspiration, not for what it may get me, but for what it says about you. Sincerely, Tom Abdow - Just another Songwriter.

ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou Mr. Gordon Lightfoot!!!!! We went to your spectacular concert in Columbia, Missouri last night (11/5) and were treated to a most perfect performance by you and your superior band! We decided that one thing that made it so wonderful is that you sang your songs just as we remember them, not jazzed up and changed around to make them 'modern'. What fun to experience your sense of humor (hey-you're a real person) ! After so many years of playing your Gord's Gold album down to the white, I finally got to see and hear you in person and you were even better than ever. I found myself crying at the end because it was over much too soon. I'm still humming.
May you have oodles of birthdays to come, filled with inspiration for more golden hits that we can love and sing along with. Thank you for all your tender love songs, your fun "toe-tappin" songs, and ballads that have lifted me up over the years.
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Happy Birthday Gordon Lightfoot. Thank you for the timeless hours I have spent with your music. My father captained freighters on the Great Lakes; my husband's grandfather ran a railroad and we have both spent (and still spend) our best hours tilting at windmills. For more than 30 years, your music has articulated our heartsongs in a way no other artist has accomplished. Happy birthday Gord.

Dear Gord,
My wife and I have been listening to, and loving, your music since we married in 1972. Our favorite album of that time was If You Could Read My Mind. Since then, we've bought everything you'vr done that we could get our hands on. We listen to other music as well, but you are and will always be, our favorite. You've provided the soundtrack of our lives. We saw you in Louisville at the Palace Theater, about the time of the Dream Street Rose Tour, I think. We love you. God Bless.

Well Dearest Gordon: It has been albeit, perhaps over 35 years that your music has "Sewn seams through all my hopes, through all my dreams.." Many, many live dates and many repairs to my soul and heart on those dark and stormy nights. I think that it is wonderful, that this techno-tool, can bring a united greeting, and humble inter-continental Thank You for all that you have given. As I write this, I reflect back to The Troubador, and Rick escorting me back stage. In my life, I have had the privilage of meeting many talented contributors, from screen, stage, canvas, and audio, and none, rendered me with as much shy gratitude, as my respect for you. I recall the days with Red Shea, John Stockfish, and I realize, that your albums, the shows I have been to, create a timeline of my life.
Bless you and the guys!

Happy Birthday and many, many more, Gordon Light(of my Life)foot. The first time ever I saw your face... at a concert in Fort Worth, Texas, mid seventies. Cannot tell you how many LP's I bought over and over again because was sure I heard the slightest scratchy noise of imperfection, and feared I would never hear it the same way again, so perfectly exquisite as you were on stage. Never wrote a fan letter, save that one, before or since, seeing you in concert. Cried worshipful tears for two days just because you were so perfect. Just discovered the early songs on the Songbook, 'Remember Me', and 'It's Too Late.'Youth is so painfully gorgeous but so, too, is a life well seasoned. We will always remember you, Gordon.

Happy Birthday, Gordon!
You are one of the 10 greatest storytellers of our time. (Of any time, actually.) But I wish I could find the album that has Knotty Pine on it! It is nowhere to be found! I want it and I can't find it!
Have a great birthday. Mine is only 3 days after yours. Thanks for making such great music.

Happy Birthday, Gordon!
And thank you for many wonderful songs and good memories shared last night here in Minneapolis (or as you call us, "Minnie"). The show was superb. My mother and I enjoyed every moment of it. I especially enjoyed hearing the newer songs for the first time, although you made us all happy by playing the old favorites like "Early Mornin' Rain". You have a wonderfully engaging way with the audience. Really made me feel like we were all sitting around a campfire sharing songs, and I wanted very much to come up onto stage and sing harmony with you!
Thanks again, and kudos to your band, as well. They were great.
Have a wonderful birthday next week.

Happy Birthday, Gordon!! Got to see you for the fourth time in Wabash, Indiana a couple of weeks ago and finally got the chance to meet you. Thank you for the time to talk. This concert was indeed a special one, as my daughter and oldest grand-daughter were with me! The goodnight hug will not be forgotten by my grand-daughter! We are already making plans to include the youngest girl next year. She is almost three, but knows you already and comes running when she hears one of your songs playing.(Who says there's no hope for the next generation?)
May you always be blessed for the lives and hearts you have touched.

Thanks for a terrific performance in Minneapolis. It was my umpteenth time at one of your concerts, and they seemed to be more enjoyable each time. (Thanks especially for playing "Restless," my favorite of your '90s songs. Hope you play in Grand Forks again. Your talents have provided many enjoyable hours for me and so many others. I'll never complain that you've stopped playing "The Auctioneer," either.

Thanks for a lifetime of songs that take us down the carefree highway and on the high seas. Here's hoping that you rest easy, if only for the day, then press on working on that next album for us.
I do have one small request--please see what you can do about the release of the final four. The record player has long since given up the ghost, the vinyls have worn thin, my tapes squeak, and I miss Old Dan's Records! Thanks again and enjoy your day.

A very best birthday wishes to you, Gordon Lightfoot. You are the only entertainer that I regularly check the concert schedule here in the Pacific Northwest for upcoming visits. Do you remember the comical glasses that Pee Wee use to wear during your performance of Old Dan's Records? He threw them to my family after a concert at the Puyallup Fair and we still keep it on display. I hope to see you perform again in the Seattle area soon. Thanks for the years of great music. Happy Birthday Gordon!
Today is November 15, 2000. The first snowflakes of the year have just landed here in the Pocono Mountains, putting me in a reflective mood. It was on November 15,1994 (exactly six years ago this day) that my husband and I were fortunate enough to see you perform at Carnegie Hall. Actually "perform" isn't quite the right word, because you seemed so comfortable and relaxed on stage as if you were playing in your own home.
My most vivid memory of that evening, however, was after the show. As frosty winds swept through the city, you graciously stood outside with your fans and greeted each person like an old friend. Your kindness warmed all our hearts, keeping the chill at bay. Thank you.
Our birthday wish for you: May each day bring you health, happiness, and all the best in life.
Sincerely,
Ricki and Cactus Will Warner

Happy Birthday to the Canadian Troubadour!
Earlier today, I was playing the "Sundown" LP while working on a project for a client. I've had this LP since 1972 or 1973 (not sure, but I was in my late twenties when I received as a gift). When you started singing "Is There Anyone Home" I had to stop what I was doing, turn up the volume and listen. I've heard this song many times but it still speaks to me, as do all of your songs. I've got other albums (all LP's) of yours, all of them still sounding like new, and all of them filled with meaningful music.
It is my sincere wish that you enjoy many more birthdays and fill that time with the creation of more fine music. God bless you and keep that guitar hummin'!

Happy Birthday, Gord.
I know it's not one of your songs, but the lyrics to "Killing Me Softly" describe the effect of your songs on me, except those times when "it's like a few good friends and neighbors playin' the nighttime tunes."
So glad to see you are coming back to McCarter Theatre, where 26 years ago it was "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
You keep playing and we'll keep listening. I know that's a one-sided bargain with us getting the best of the deal, but I hope you will agree.
May your happiness only increase.
Happy Birthday Gordon! You are & always will be a special person in my life. Your music is always there for me, whether I'm up or down. Your a true hero. May you have many more e-birthdays!
