I was listening to my new cassette of ODR for the umpteenth time recently and it occurred to me that I don't know who Old Dann is/was. So, at the risk of admitting some Gordignorance here, who was he??
Details as to why Gord picked him out would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

According to Songbook, the uncle with the old '78s was named Jack, and the song title was "sort of a pun on old danse records," as FrankieVali (or someone using a version of his name) correctly notes.
