To close the concert with either A Painter Passing Through, Much To My Surprise, or maybe Broken Dreams (which was the closure on the Salute Album) would be nice. What does he normally close them with?

Old Dan's Records, Cold On The Shoulder... at least the few closures I've heard. Not entirely sure what he'll choose this time out.

it'll probably be a similar show to what he was playing in 2002, just a bit shorter.

keep in mind this is the first show he's doing in two years, so you cant expect a big shake up in the structure of the set.

HAHA... massey is a long way away from the bottom end of Australia, so i'll guess i'll have to pass this time around. if anyone wants to send me the bootleg of the show, i'll gladly accept!

lightfoot hasnt been to australia since 1974!

What about “I’ll Tag Along”?
He played it at Mariposa this year so he’s obviously been practising it. Although the notes range about quite dramatically, it suits his more mature register.
There’s a lot in this song, which is, possibly, relevant to his life now. (‘Tho, that’s presuming a lot and he probably doesn’t give a xxxx!)

This time tomorrow
We might all be packed and gone,
I believe it’s best we carry on.

I think he’ll tag along for a while, yet!!

OK. Bru? Enough analysing for you?
(She hates people dissecting his songs. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif)

since the night(s) is a celebration/benefit it would be great to close with the Goods joining him for something singalong like Old Dan, or maybe Alberta Bound (val has posted that the Goods used to close with this one but i want them to be on stage WITH him to close)

...anyhow, ODR is my final answer (with banjo http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif)

Laurel and I will find you accomodations and could even spring for a couple meals I'm sure. As far as plane fare I can't help you there, but I do believe the train would be cheaper.

I was at GL show about 10 years ago, and he closed with "Spin Spin", wich blew me away.
I had never heard him perform that song live before let alone close with it. A real unexpected treat!
