New GL fan

I saw Gordon for the first time with a few of my friends on April 6 in Verona, NY. Before this I never had bought a single recording of his or considered myself a fan -until now, that is! What a tremendous talent he is. His band was also outstanding. I plan to purchase my first GL album this week....any good recommendations about which of his albums I should buy first?

joveski's choices are all great CDs but for a good intoductory purchase you should consider the 4 CD box set "SONGBOOK". It has cuts from all his albums. Also it can be found at "sale" prices at many on-line and retail CD sellers. Welcome aboard.

Don Quixote is the greatest Album of all time ( that includes everyone !! ), it should not be missed.

it is a great album but i prefer SSOL for some reason. Actually, i'd think the first albums anyone should get are DSR and shadows, but we have a small problem for the moment :)

All of them would be a good place to start... but assuming a limited budget (as in 1 purchase only)I submit "Don Quixote". It doesn't get any better than that.

Get the new Complete Greatest Hits album, just released April 2. It has a wonderful selection of his best songs including the four biggest. It's a beautiful album, exquisitely remastered, and it will definitely give you a wonderful taste of his music. After that, you can dig deeper - maybe decide to get the Songbook boxed set, or another single CD. You can't go wrong.
