i won't ask why he combined i'm not saying/ribbon of darkness/ and for loving me/did she mention my name but it seem like it was a fad durring the 70s. i can only speak from a r&r standpoint since i've never was much of a folky. but you had Journies feeling that way/anytime you need me. witch was from their 78 debut. and if any of you are familier with Robert Palmer's earlystuff and know of the songs put on your sailing shoes and sneaking Sally through the alley. both Little Feat songs and he combined.

Yes,there was kind of a "let's put two songs together" fad in the 70's & early 80's. The Spinners did,"Working my Way Back To You/Forgive Me Girl and "Cupid/I've Loved Lou For A Long Time". Two big top ten hits. Gord's combo's blend a litlle better though because they are so similar.

2 songs, okay, but that medley craze of '81/'82,that was a bit much. Taking a bunch of songs by one act and putting splices of them back to back? Nice novelty but as we all know, novelties wear thin after awhile. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

The Beatles medley by Stars on 45 went to #1 in '81 but the title (due to copywright rules)contained the name of each song in the medley! That gave it an overall song title of 41 words! Jeez! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif Hopefully,no one revives that part of the decade. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif
