View Full Version : Does anybody know ?
I heard a Gordon Lightfoot song back in the 70's when I was a child which I have never heard since. I don't know the title and only know a few of the lyrics (probably missheard !i'm really not much use am I)Despite trying to find a possible title for the song I have had no success. I am hoping that someone out there will guess the song from the fragmented lyrics below. here goes....
'but she doesn't like to get up in the morning, with her hair all soft and low, daylight kitty come home, daylight Kitty come home...'
Well that's it hope someone can help, thanks a bunch,
Noel.
Hi Noel..The song you're looking for is Daylight Katy, from the Endless Wire album released in 1978. You can get the lyrics on this site if you like....follow the "Albums" link on the home page. Take care, Bev

NB...Look below if ya' don't feel like navigating:
Daylight Katy (Endless Wire) 4:18
She walks by the sea where the seaworld is
And she waits for the man to come
She lives in town with her high-heeled friends
And she knows it's a long way down
But she doesn't have to get up in the morning
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home
She walks to the sea where the seaweed is
Where the rust and the dirt runs deep
She lives nine lives in her midnight world
While her old man's fast asleep
And she doesn't have to get up in the mornin'
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home
She lives by the sea when the summer wind comes
And the sea don't mind at all
She talks to the sea when the sea runs wild
And the waves run steep and tall
And she doesn't have to get up in the mornin'
With her hair so soft and long
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home
Daylight Katy come on
Daylight Katy come on
If you can't follow me down
Daylight Katy go home

You're so welcome, Noel! It will be two weeks tomorrow since I was at the show in Hudson, NC and got to meet Gord and the entire band afterwards! My husband and I also got invited to the show the next night in Greensboro. I'm STILL walking on air!
Take good care,
Bev
