View Full Version : My GL Website
Due to a decision by my ISP to scrap the webspace they provide to their customers and force us to use Yahoo Geocities I have made the decision to close my website as of Jan 1 2005 until further notice.
I absolutely will not use Geocities as they are an ad supported web service and they only allow a small bandwith allowance, therefore if only 3 people look at my site, it will be shut down until the next month and to me that is unacceptable.
In the meantime I will be looking at a better webspace company.
GSH.

Hey Gord I have e-mailed you to recommend that you to try a great free web site outfit that offer no adverts; 50MB space; 2B file uploads using an FTP client program like WS_FTP and I also started such a site to describe this outfit at:- http://johncfowles.freewebsites.com
I even show there the WS_FTP configuration entries

I looked at it and read the fine print and it clearly states it will put advertising on my website and I do not want that.... but thanks anyway.

Agreed Gord but.........
nor did I want any advertising on my sites and despite what the blurb says I tried to emphasize in my speal on my sample site:- http://johncfowles.freewebsites.com/
that they claim to have changed to no banners nor pop-ups and if you take a look at that site you will see that even after a few days there is no sign of any advertising that I can see (though quite how thay can offer free sites without advertising support they do not say). But ostensibly there is no problem. So suck it and see!!

doesn't matter, Rogers has reversed their bonehead move so I won't be moving my site after all.

You haven't updated for a while though. Glad you don't have to go through all the hassle.
Yes I know I haven't updated in awhile, work and my present health concerns kinda take priority right now.... my sites usually get updated in the late fall or if there is some earth shattering news. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
