There has, at last, been some interest in the idea of a UK get together (see the
'What's all the excitement about' thread (p.2). So all your Brit lurkers, show yourselves, please. How many would be interested and willing to join in?
Before we take it any further, let's get some numbers.
I'm at SilverHeels7@aol.com

I think Bru and I could add two or three possible names to the list. They don't post here, but could be interested in the get-together.

Some people join the party, and others say goodnight.

For all of you who are really interested in this event: Al has 'offered' to make enquiries about a suitable venue near to his home (a pretty village close to Preston).
How many would be willing to make the trip ?
We could plan it over a weekend, fit in some sightseeing of surrounding areas like the Lakes and Chester and Blackpool? With jam sessions to be arranged?
Please register your genuine interest before we move on to the next step. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

I stayed there in September 2002 - it is BEAUTIFUL and the perfect setting for a Lighthead gathering!!! Just make sure no one gets "my cottage" Alan http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

As much as I'd really love to go, I need to start saving my vacation time for when a certain someone crosses the pond to visit San Diego next year http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif

Hello to all of you in the U.K.! I hope you all get a chance to meet - sounds like you will! Wish I could be there! Do any of you know of any retail stores that do not have HARMONY stocked? Obviously, it would be easier to ask multiple store "chains" to add it to their inventory. Would it be easier if the CD has more airplay? If so, I know several of you are calling/emailing stations, but could I help in any way? Are there many internet stations tha would take requests from "across the pond?"

Well All Right.
I have now restored my logo to my site:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot/gordfestlogo5.jpg
There was a "mini" Brit gathering in Toronto last week (Me Bru and Paul from Norwich) and there could have been a fourth if
the partying arrangements had been more widely diseminated here in time, because I see that Londoner Dan O'Malley
who had said on topic:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003173#000006
"I am also off to Toronto tuesday morning, leaving Gatwick airport in London at 11:15 am!! Got a ticket for saturday's show
and cannot wait! (I'll worry about the expense when I return!)

--------------------
Dan O'Malley
"
He was apparently at all four concerts and broke away to post a note here under the name "<Dan O'Malley> unregistered" at:-
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003173;p=0
where he informed us on Sunday 22nd
"I made it! Saw Gord all 4 nights and met the man himself last night. He signed my ticket and I got a photo of the two of us.
Still a bit shell shocked! I'm using the internet cafe in chapters bookstore on john street, sadly going home tomorrow. But
it was all well worth it"
Sorry Dan I did try to let you know what was going on with other corfidians in Toronto in my private message to you dated May 15th in which I pasted the entire contents of an email from Janice telling you that:-
"there will be an open house of sorts on Wednesday from 4-6 pm in my suite"
and moreover:-
"There will be a post concert room party in my suite each night, Wednesday - Saturday"
also:-
"On Saturday, in addition to the post concert party, we are arranging for a pre-concert gathering over dinner at City Grill
in Eaton Centre "
which I see you read presumably before you left the UK.I was therefore disappointed not to meet you there.
I also as soon as I got back from Toronto on Thursday (19th) posted a reminder on both corfid and the Newsgroup of the plans...
(on corfid at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003191.)
which was mostt likely too late for you to see.
at the post concert party on Saturday at one point an unknown gent/(possible gate crasher) appeared sporting a D18GL tee shirt and apparently infornmed somebody that he was the owner of number 3 but although I later realised that it might be Dan who I have a suspicion once said that he had an 18GL,I failed to find out who this person was so as he did not make a point
of telling us that he was a Brit I guess it was not Dan.
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot/gordfestlogo5.jpg
If it takes place in 2006 I will of course modify the logo to form the basis of an "attendees" badge

Anyway I do hope that a rekindled interest in a Brit Gordfest will lead to a gathering especialy since neither Alan Paynter,Gaby or Jim Nasium made it to Toronto on this occasion. Depending on the timing it is even possible that I can persuade Susan to brave the Atlantic flight again.

Hi Dan here, sorry didn't meet you all. But It was a hastily arranged trip! I ended up staying in the backpackers inn! and was on an extremely tight budget! By the way, I know this has been discussed before but whats the easiest way to post a picture on here, as i have a couple of pics of gord to show.

Janice

The late comer in the D-18 T-shirt that you mentioned, John, is the owner of #3. He and his wife introduced themselves to me, but I can't remember their names, now. They found out about the gathering by accident after overhearing some of the group talking somewhere (I'm not sure if it was the hotel lobby or at Massey Hall.) They were invited by said group to join us and I'm thrilled that they did. They seemed like very nice folks.

I also sent a private message to Dan O'Malley sharing with him the plans, but never heard back from him.

I'll present you with a "quick and dirty" method for displaying pix here.
My revised tutorial is on the back burner but fundamentally you can only display pix that are already uploaded to a web site somewhere.
If you have free web space provided by your Internet Service Provider of course you can use that.
I am coming to the end of my research into setting up a completely free web site for this and other personal use plus an introduction to writing web pages using HTML which is loads of fun and very satisfying albeit initially and inevitably frustrating due errors etc!!
So for now use the free album facility presented by MSN Communities
1.firstly make sure the desired pix are easily accessible (On a floppy is the easiest way I find)

2.then simply go to either the GL home page at:-
http://groups.msn.com/TheHomePageOfGordonLightfoot/shoebox.msnw
Or to the group I set up specificaly for this purpose at:-
http://groups.msn.com/corfiddisplay
3.On either one enroll yourself as a member
4.then click on the relevant "pictures" menu item to access the photo albums
5.select the "corfid testing" album
6.click on "add photos"
7.Install the MSN tool which is a quick process
8.you should then see a list of your computer's drives select as appropriate
9.a 'thumbnail" display of all pix on that drive should appear alongside the drive listing
10.check the pic you want to upload
11.edit the picture if desired
you can rotate it if necessary and/or do some basic editing there such as:-
adjust brightness contrast and crop but not resize (that is another subject that I will be addrssing as too large a picture can cause scrolling problems on this forum)
12.when ready click the "upload now" button and bingo
13.you can now link to it How exactly??
14.Right click on the thumbnail to load the full picture in your broweser
15.then right click on it
16.select properties
17.highlight and copy the picture's address to your clipboard (as far as where it will say jpg)
18. I strongly reccomend that at this point you check you have it right by pasting from the clipboard into a new browser window
example
http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SACRAv4UgONq9cpmlvXLRCRnmy3VgQJyLxRYtxUK6pzBXubVu ffG1I!HvhCDRhMsJpclr5kSDL79M2kCoMrySXlxI0Noo7C9cw5 KxPbUlSVVAAAAynIFAg/MVC-004F.JPG
19.put the UBB codes in front and after that address
or "cheat" by using the (new) images feature under the full reply box
(where it says "Instant UBB Code")
20.then if you so wish to add a suitable caption below the picture
so that the result comes up hopefully like this
http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SACRAv4UgONq9cpmlvXLRCRnmy3VgQJyLxRYtxUK6pzBXubVu ffG1I!HvhCDRhMsJpclr5kSDL79M2kCoMrySXlxI0Noo7C9cw5 KxPbUlSVVAAAAynIFAg/MVC-004F.JPG
