What does he mean?

Hi everyone! Just a quick question: does
anyone know what Gord is refering to in
"Welcome To Try" on "Waiting For You"
when he says regarding his children:
"if they wanta preach and are not within
reach they can say anything that they like"
Has Gord had any "problems" with any of
his kids mouthing off over the years?

I think for many years after Gord and his first wife divorced he didn't see his son and daughter very much due to his touring and they went to Europe to live for awhile. There was quite a bit of acrimony between Brita and Gord and the divorce was very public and at the time she received the largest divorce settlement in Canadian history. I think his son was a bit more "hostile" but things have been smoothed over and time has healed the wounds.
