Sorry, I'm a little late today. My computer seemed to be offline last night. Showdown #3 was our closest showdown yet, but it still wasn't as close as I would have thought. I tend to agree that Drifters has a nicer melody. Here are the results so far:

Showdown #1 Old Dan's Records 15 Uncle Toad Said 2

Showdown #2 IYCRMM 13 Harmony 1

Showdown #3 Drifters 10 Stay Loose 5

For Showdown #4, I've selected two songs that share a similar rhythm and baseline. Tell us which one you love the best:

Hangdog Hotel Room

or

Betty Called Me In

I'll have to go with Hangdog Hotel Room...

"With rhythms all around us we're like weavers at the loom"...now that's a good line!

I rather like the grateful and relieved (in every sense) young man in Betty Called Me In. The guy in Hangdog Hotel Room knows too much and cares too little.
So, BCMI.

They are both so lively and fun to sing along with, but I'll go with Betty.

Only heard "Betty" once -- it didn't stick with me. Hangdog was on my "skip this one" list for a while, until I decided I should make more of an effort. Now, I really like it. There you have it.

Hangdog Hotel Room, esp. with the unsanitized lyrics of "rubbin' the wrong girl right"

"Betty" is a fun song tho. And a fun gal.
