ha, i was inspired by the voice is GONE headline, the week before it was Wayne's tabs are wrong, etc, etc;)

but seriously, I love those shots from backstage (heck, and I'm not even an ass-man!), but IMO just the perfect amount of superimposing of his face on this one, eh?

http://www.lightfoot.ca/live8-5.jpg

i really love his current phrasings and delivery and setlists, i actually could never hear what Gord was singing live back in the early or late 80's...when I first heard Triangle I never made out one word, it was just one long 4 minute multi-syllable with a few breaks for air intake...other than the experience of sharing his space from afar, i really only enjoyed the acoustic request segment following intermission

anyhow, since the 'voiceless Gord' era commenced, the more stripped down Live 8 and other live TV/radio or in concert or in interview memories are real treasures where I've hung on every word (and actually understood each one! :) ) and pluck of his strings, including:

- his 14K Gold intro to kick off the MMM live set
- his live CRT performance at Family Farm tribute
- his live cookin version of Boathouse in Brantford
- his Harmony CD release interview live on Canada AM
- his Let It Ride version broadcast live on radio from Peterborough
- his moving Spanish Moss opener and later superb Harmony vocals at the Hamilton benefit
- his moving IYCRMM performance in Barrie, Live 8
- his mesmerizing SDYS performance at last Massey
- his tasty Shellfish performance at prior Massey
- his witty KTLA interview/I'll Prove Me Love gig
(ok, so I didn't see this live but I still got nervous)
- his flawless Salute performance on Alan Thicke
(ok, yes, this was pre-WFY...and perhaps it was not Live, perhaps Memorex ...perhaps, BillW is actually onto something!) ;)

the above isn't supposed to be a resume of my recent Gord concerts, but a partial list of my quite special Gord moments during the latest era of Lightfoot that I'm very glad I didn't miss out on and would love to hear other's similar recent 'gems'

cheers, enjoy the upcoming shows like they are your last (or first), KT & all:)

Classic JJ at work here. This" Jones" boy knows how to put it out there let me tell ya! Talk about having his in act in gear when it comes to "staying ahead of the keep uppers." And hey, JJ, I just remembered that the phone didn't ring either during that cool musical session in Scarborough recently, and that went on for a while or two. Just a "Jones" thing friends that can be shared with all, but ya' have to ear in to the lyric. It's all there in " Lazy Mornin'." Great Gord song for tuning into total relaxation. Ron Jones.

Lazy Morning is a great tune, I should have added that on the setlist.
Beautiful post and fabulous picture JJ. Loved it!
Hey Ron are you and JJ related? ;)

What? Is Norah actually related to Tom?

Poor old Tom had a lot of plastic surgery back in the day, but it obviously worked. I remember reading that women used to throw their underwear up on stage.

I used to like watching him dance around on TV. Dad even liked him. I remember him saying, "Boy, he looks like he's full of piss and vinegar"... whatever that means.

Hey Ron are you and JJ related? ;) Not in the linear sense that I'm aware of Brink, but who knows what an investigation could reveal. One thing for sure I can attest to though, we're definitely from the same bolt of cloth, as one would put it, and it seems to be that way with most of the Joneses I connect with. The musical thing is up there pretty high. I understand that they have "Jones" family reunions somewhere in Wales from time to time. Now that's one gig I would just love to be part of. Cheers, Ron J
