I've been looking around but can not find a date or year for this interview (Gordon Lightfoot with Peter Gzowski).
I recieved a DVD copy of it for Christmas. Nothing earth shattering, but well worth watching a few times or so!
I'd appreciate some info on this piece, at least a year to attribute it to.
thanks in advance.... did I mention you guys are the best????

1998, it's all here (and much more) at Wayne's site
http://www.lightfoot.ca/tvappear.htm
it shattered my earth, loved it, except Pete (RIP) talked too much, lol
think he was just excited to be airing all out with a pal..wish that went for hours with more tunes, nice sound, imo

thanks jj for the link. I had thought I had uncovered everything at Wayne's site, but now I have a treasure trove of info as a resource...
It's a very casual, relaxed interview... gained some insight into how the man "works". Like a good book, when you re-read it, each time takes on new meaning.

Peter Gzowski was my favourite interviewer. I used to listen to his morning radio shows on CBC whenever I got a chance. My understanding is that Lightfoot doesn't like doing interviews, but I think Gzowski's interview style put him at ease. I think it was a great interview.

Hello, I wasn't aware that someone had a dvd made of this interview. How's the sound quality? Would I have to look on EBay to get this then?
Thanks a lot.

I (with the assistance of my adoring, oops I meant adorable wife) purchased several of these items on Ebay. All have been satisfactory, bearing in mind that the material is copied from "tape", some recorded "over the air" broadcasts, etc. So if you're willing to accept some loss of quality, then go for it.
I would suggest the "package deals" are, dollar for dollar, the best offfers. Get Chicago Soundstage, the interview mentioned above, misc, clips, Johnny Cash show appearances. There are usually "bonus" material offered. if so I'd recommend snagging it!
I hope that helps.... the short of it is that I don't regret any of the purchases... in fact I've been delighted with them.

I just watched Peter's interview with Gord from 1998. I can tell the year of Gord's career due to the fact that he's clean shaven, no moustache and the similarity to the "Painter Passing Through" album cover. Gord is as uncomfortable as I've ever seen him in an interview. However, something's different. The set is absolutely Canadian. Gord tries his best to be ok with being interviewed, but you can tell he hates it. Peter does a great job of directing his questions to where Gord will be the least pressed to give an answer, and at times the two connect. But Gord's uncomfortableness is very visible. Then to realize that Peter died about 5 years after this interview, makes me feel sad. Still a great interview that will be essential to Lightfoot devotees after Gord leaves this world.
