It is really difficult to pick one. But for the voice, the songs, the music, 'Dream Street Rose', is way up there for me. :)

I think this is a very underrated album as well.
Favorite tune off of this one is "Ghosts of Cape Horn". I always whistle the part at concerts - Gord doesn't whistle it anymore. I hope the people around me don't mind - I know I always emberass my kids.

I may ask Gord next time I speak to him why he doesn't whistle it anymore - maybe he never did live.

Anyway, to answer the original question, my favorite album is still "Salute". It's the first one I had him to sign the first time I met him.

This is really a difficult question but I think I still like "Shadows" best, closely followed by "Sundown" and "Harmony".

Oh-h-h-h this is a hard one. :) Always keep going back and forth. Probably "Sundown", "Summertime
Dream" and "Salute". But, tomorrow it might be different. "Sundown" though, is just REALLY special, to me.

Elizabeth,
"Don Quixote" is on the 'Don Quixote' album from 1972. Was it on any others? Love the photo on that album. :) :)

Louisemnnpls... Of course it's from the DQ album. My copy of DQ is in the car so I wasn't sure which album it was in. My Mother's claim that she had drowned all her dumb children is obviously wrong! Thanks.

SUNDOWN always has been-always will be my Nr.1
COLD ON THE SHOULDER -holds ´Now and then`- my favourite song.
This is LIGHTFOOT -my beautiful double album, which, as John puts it, holds the most beautiful songs of the first five albums. This is what we listen to in our car when driving long distances-my husband´s and my son´s (he´s 23) favourite songs are there. My son,by the way ,must be the only German kid whose favourite lullaby was ´Pussywillows´..´.He still has a lot of G.L.songs on his mp3player. Gives me a huge smile whenever I borrow one of his earphones to listen in.

Oh boy; another one of those tough choices!

I have to say that Sundown really stands out. Tracks like 7 Island Suite, The List, High and Dry and Somewhere USA (not to mention the obvious 2 hits) make this CD a winner all the way around. And his voice is out of this world on this album!

DSR and Summertime Dream are not far behind.

Right on timetraveler,

The original Gords Gold to me is better than Vol 2.

One of my sisters who is about his age really likes , 'East Of Midnight' She says "That's a sexy man right there". You ladies what can I say??? :D :)

Hm, best looking album cover.... I think for me it would be the 'Waiting for you'. I also like the one on 'East of Midnight' but on WFY he looks more casual or genuine - for the lack of better words!
The one on APPT also is a nice one. The earlier ones - I don't know...( Except Sundown and IYCRMM ) He probably could have walked right past me, I wouldn't have looked twice. Clearly, it seems I have a soft spot for older guys :)

Your recounting reminds me of my ex-sister-in-law who happened to visit shortly after I had picked up the LP. She didn't know squat about Lightfoot's music, but knew I was a big fan. She looked at the cover and said, "That looks pretty".

I like the cover of Don Quixote and Gords Gold. You can only see the collar of the jacket on Gords Gold but it looks like he's wearing the same distressed brown leather jacket as he is on DQ. Its a great jacket too! I wonder where it is now, stuffed in the back of one of his closets or maybe it is in the posession of some lucky fan?

I'm not too into the white suit on EoM. Never was into guys wearing suits, of any color for that matter. IMO, GL looks best when he's dressed down.
