just heard the original last night for the 1st time. hope you don't mind me metioning these things for years i've been only famiilar with the re-recordings. what version do you think is best?

Hey Mike I suspect that nearly eveybody knew it is on Lightfoot! (the debut album of his '20 originals").But I for one am blowed if I know of any remake which is probably why brink asked the question.
So do you ??

The remake is on "Gord's Gold." Both excellent versions but I prefer the original.

I prefer the original as well. Less uptempo than the remake. I now have it on CD thanks to the box set Songbook, and fell in love with it all over again. It seems to me to be more plaintive, in keeping with the story of the song.
