Not including compilations, of course (no voting for 'Songbook'!).

I would say my favorite overall album would be 'Don Quixote'. Something about that combination of songs just clicked to make the perfect album. Even the picture of Gord on the cover is great, sporting the bearded outdoorsman look and holding a guitar (I am guessing it was taken in his backyard).

The only song I didn't like was 'Ode to Big Blue' but the rest of the them were excellent. I will never forget that opening line to 'Christian Island' ("I'm sailing down the summer wind, I got whiskers on my chin, and I like the mood I'm in...") What imagery! Its the kind of song that really takes you away.

I could go on and on about the quality of the songs-- 'Don Quixote', 'Alberta Bound', 'Brave Mountaineers'--but I won't.

So which of Gord's albums are your favorite and why?

I'll second that vote for DQ but I'd leave in the whaling song - it's a great live tune.

I don't get what some people have against the song "Big Blue". It's a great, well written and told story about how a species of this kind is dying out due to human intrusion.

Is it because it's over 4 minutes long? Too many lyrics? Not a thing wrong with that song, just short attention span impatiece I feel.

Favorite album? I have a 4 way tie going between Summer Side Of Life,Sit Down Young Stranger (IYCRMM),Sundown and Harmony!

I cann'a pick 1 Captain! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif

I would have to say The Way I Feel holds a special place in my heart. It was the album that introduced me to GL's music and contains what I consider the the most stunning version ever of CRT. However, Songbook is gaining on TWIF. I love the unreleased songs!

Me and my mom like the Sundown album the best. Dad doesn't really have an opinion, he likes all of them. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
