What songs do you think depict Gord at his happiest moments?
An uptempo song like Alberta Bound?
A family song like Fine as Fine Can Be?
A song about Canada?
A song about serenity like Christian Is.?

Definitely Christian Island. You can almost
feel the bliss he is experiencing doing
what he loves to do, sail. He is completely
at peace in this song, at ease with himself
and the world.
There are others - I'll have a think and
return. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Tattoo for the romantic spark he ignites in all of us. Gotta say Triangle too because it is such a great song.

"Old Dan's Records" "Lazy Morning" "Sea of Tranquility" "I'll Do Anything" he seems most happy on these type songs...family, nature, love.

Fezo,
He does say it's "the only time I'm flying."
But it's also good to be "Alberta Bound."
What about the absolute loved & in-love serenity of "Beautiful?"
Or the male comradery of a shipboard trip to the Triangle -- a mighty fine way to be bound?
Lot's of choices, different types of happiness!!!

Mountains and Marian. The song is full of excitement and anticipation about a huge change in one's life, and how, in order to make such a change, one must sever past ties and fond memories, which in the end were not fulfilling. In his early versions you can hear his excitement, even though the story isn't really his.

fezo, very insightful--I'm with you on this one. And remember, he can't be sailing near Christian Island until he hits the hiway to head home, which is the only time he's flying.

i would say perhaps he may have been happy when he recorded "broken dreams". after all he realizes that change is constant, sometimes easy, sometimes difficult.
