View Full Version : Different Meanings

Some songs can have different meanings other than what the artist wanted them to mean. "Too Many Clues In This Room" takes the top on this. But there are others too.
Someone to Believe In was about searching for someone to have a crush on. But it could mean that maybe you found out that that person does not like you after all this time. Or say if you have a role model in life, and maybe that person is not what you expected to be and it really disappoints you. (If the song meant that, Gord might change it to "Someone Else To Believe In" http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)
But seriously though, there are songs that could have different meanings.

In many ways, "The Last Time I Saw Her" reminds me of my mother, and losing her. Perhaps he's singing of an old flame (as he often does), but most of the imagery (steeple bells, million miles beyond the moon, kiss on the cheek) suggest her to me.

It's always seemed to me that "The Last Time I Saw Her" was referring to someone who had passed over.

I think it's the last verse that leaves me with that impression. Granted he could we writing of a metaphorical death, as in the death of love.

The last time she kissed my cheek
Her lips were like the wilted leaves
Upon the autumn covered hills
Resting on the frozen ground
The seeds of love lie cold and still
Beneath a battered marking stone
It lies forgotten

Born once - Got it right the first time. )O(

Violet Blue Horse, I agree the verse seems to sound like a passion and love, the fullness of a relationship. Then the song seems to go into the lines of loss but, the part about
'if time heals, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more'
to me this sounds like a very intense love...and a still dedicated lover...
