View Full Version : New/Old Fan
This is my first time contributing to this site, but I've been reading messages for a few weeks. I'm 44 (about the same age as many GL fans) and fell in love with his music in my early teens. My favorites - Springsteen, The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Ramones and GL. His music defies stereotype, folk, pop, a little rock, country ,bluegrass, but always pure, clear, melodic. Like many, I'm ashamed to say I fell out of touch with his releases in the 80's/90's. I went to see one of his concerts here in Vegas at the Orleans Hotel and was wiped out. He's changed (I've changed) but his music is uncompromised. I was happily shocked at the quality of his newer songs. I guess since I'd never heard any of it on the radio, I never thought to look for it (that is stupid!). Some of these songs would/should have been hits (Restless and 14 Carat Gold come immediately to mind), but I guess today the process is more important than the product. Of course I went out and bought Songbook and the video and I'm taking a first good look at Shadows - great stuff. I know this isn't much of a topic, but I'm taking alot of space and I look forward to contributing in the future. Thanks!

Welcome!
I rediscoverd Lightfoot in 1999 and it's been wonderful ever since.
Almost sounds like you're from Chicago!
My favorites - Springsteen, The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Ramones and GL.
Like many, I'm ashamed to say I fell out of touch with his releases in the 80's/90's.

Not Stupid! The radio didn't play it! I didn't know he was alive till Songbook came out. What a nice suprise, and a door that opened to so many, wonderful songs and especially the fans.
The Lightfoot Convention is coming up!
I know this isn't much of a topic,
One of my favorite topics is Lightfoot.
Stick around, you'll like it here and us.

Hi Dalyot!
I think you'd have to come up with something pretty outlandish for this group to think it's not much of a topic. We're in this for fun (and typing practice). It's kind of like shooting radio beams into space, and finding there IS other intelligent life out there. Have fun!
