So where were all of you in the Eastern US and Canada when the lights went out? I was having a nap when my fan slowly shut off!

I was on the computer working. We lost power at 4 pm but luckily it came back on a little after 12 am. Could you imagine being stuck in an elevator when the power goes off? That would be horrible.

The fire department here in Brantford was kept busy going to every single complex here that has elevators and busted open the doors to get people out. Thursday night the power came back on at 8pm, Friday morning the power was out for 12 hrs, Saturday we were fine, obviously the power is still on as I type this, officials are warning people the power may go out again Monday when people try to go back to work.

I left work at 4 pm, went to the supermarket and on the way home listened a local radio station talking about a massive blackout. The weird thing was, the part of town (Utica NY)I was driving through still had power (and never lost it), but my neighborhood was out till about 10 pm. There wasn't any clear dividing line between who had power and who didn't, it was like a camouflage pattern. Seems like folks in some cities could sing "Song for a Blackout Night"--"The lamp is burning low upon my tabletop, and so is my neghbor's"

I guess we can look forward to a small "population explosion" in about 9 months.

Story in the paper today tells of a woman trapped in an office tower elevator in Detroit for 19 hours! Yikes! Excuse me for now while I run to the restroom! Just the thought of 19 hours trapped in an elevator activates my bladder!! What is the ONE thing you would want with you if trapped that long in a dark elevator? For me it would be my GL collection and a battery-powered boombox with extra D cells!

Okay, a bucket for you as well. You can sit on it until you have to use it.
