A Canadian thing

In "Red Velvet" when Gord says the word "Blow", he doesn't pronounce it as "Blow" he says B-low. He also does it in "High And Dry". Do all canadians do that or does he just to that or did he just do it in certain songs?

im not canadian and i don't think it's a canadian thing. it just sounds better with the music to sing it that way. maybe a canadian can prove me wrong?

I'm not Canadian but I am from the very NW corner of Pennsylvania! That being Erie County. Merely a hop,skip & a jump from the falls!

I noticed too that in "Wreck" he turns Detroit into 3 syllables. Maybe it's just that I'm from the south, but I've always pronounced it DEE-troit. I've heard it pronounced De-TROIT, but not usually in the South. GL pronounces it De-TROY-it. Anybody else pick up on that?

We native Michiganders and Michiganians pronounce it De-TROIT...two syllables. Most Canadians and French heritage folks, I've noticed, do pronounce it with three syllables, unless they use the true native French pronounciation, which is Day-TWAH. But then again, some natives pronounce Mex-i-co as MAY-he-co...so there ya go! To each his own and I say to-MAY-to while you say to-MAH-to. And my AUNT isn't really an Ant.
