Showdown #10
Let it Ride 14 Knotty Pine 9

I thought that "Let it Ride" would win hands down, but there are a lot of "knotty" fans out there I see. Wouldn't you love to hear Gord do a song or two from the "Salute" album in concert? It has been a while. I'm not suggesting he pull out his electric guitar again, but I'd love to hear "Whispers of the North" or "Gotta Get Away" with the acoustic. I'm sure it would sound great. Now that I'm thinking about "Salute" and the electric guitar, why don't we compare two of Gord's rockier and lesser known tunes. How about this choice?

Gotta Get Away

or

Fading Away

Which is your favourite? Gotta go away for now. I'll come back with Showdown #12 soon.

Have fun.

My memory said it was a close call so I listened to them in my pickup on the way to work. Still fairly close but I'll vote for:

Fading Away

I Know it sounds very '80's, but I love the guitars on "Gotta Get Away"! "Fading Away" is far superior lyrically, and I love it,but i'm going for "Gotta Get Away", and not just to be different!

I like the spacial-ness (not sure how to spell spacial as in feeling of space) of Got to Get Away, I see him approaching the land where he canoed, but I will pick Fading Away overall.

I love "Gotta Get Away"! :D
Fading Away is good but is kind of cynical.
(I'm sure it's supposed to be) but G.G.Away just has a cool groove to it.

Lesser known for good reason.

Fading Away, IMO, is the better of the two.

Not bad songs, but neither one would make him the immortal he is.
