Yeah, should be.

But 5am is a bit late/early for me (take yer pick). I'm hoping someone can record it and we can see if it's worth keeping.

Oh I know. Gord reading the phone book is worth keeping, you don't need to say it. :D

It was quite cool to listen to Gord talk about sports, his love for Toronto teams, meeting sports heroes...he was his usual humble self and very gracious with callers that spoke with him. He talked about some of his songs and his feelings about them. He also spoke of being proud to be Canadian when the host said he WAS Canada-he represented Canada to so many people all over. The other guest, another Canadian-a former hockey player and scout for Detroit I believe said what I have said...that knowing that Gordon Lightfoot is Canadian makes me even more proud to be Canadian. Kinda cool!HIs nephew Steven called in as well to speak about Gord playing him Sundown before it was finished.
www.fan590.com (http://www.fan590.com) has an AUDIO section where some interviews are archived. I don't know for how long or if Gord's will be there. As of now it isn't there....I'll keep checking. The show started about 15 minutes before the scheduled time of 11 p.m. and went until 1 a.m.

where the latest one is dated September the 1st.
perhaps a phone call from Whitby is in order to spur them on.
Tell them dear Chargé d'affaires that there is at least one loony Australian who inexplicably missed the internet broadcast.
Actually Chariot you omitted to mention what for
us was the worst moment: in response to one caller's probing aboot future album plans Gord seemed to shrug the idea off because that required fitting around his family activities which were now taking up more or most of his time
Mwaaaaawww.I did attempt several times to phone in myself but the station's automated extension location device failed no matter what I entered on the numeric touchpad and the toll free 1-888
open line access number was for some peculiar reason not available to me dialing from the states.Shame I had steeled myself for a live chat knowing that a handful of us were in the chat room
and would hear me blustering and trying to quiz Gord on the fate of the rest of his new/demo songs that did not make it onto Harmony,
Plus emphasize that his appeal internationally was very much intact as not one but two fans had been in the chatroom standing on their heads!
John Fowles
And if I dont stop this trembling hand from reaching for the phone
Whenever I'm feelin lonely I can just pick up the phone
Or I can go to the movies or just stay at home alone

Looking at the wall Wishing you'd call
And tell me you're ok Thats all

Actually they have some interviews as late as September 7 (scroll on down) so maybe it'll be up in a couple of days. I couldn't stay awake (sob!) - comes from being a morning person - so I missed it, too.

I really enjoyed listening to the show. I got most of it recorded, not the beginning as it was supposed to start at 11, so whatever played before that I missed. He spoke to Bru for a while about Christian Island. Not really, but she would have loved it.

It was mentioned that it was three years ago minus a day or so since he was flat out on the ground as I think he said (when he fell ill). Nice anniversary.

the original listing was by no means in strict chronological order so i missed that
Ihat has now been revised but the latest is still the 7th.
Nobody here has yet mentioned the caller from Collingwood who was "actually looking out on Christian Island"
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/10.jpg
A still picture from my own November 1999 video showing the ramp for the ferry to Christian Island in the distance
he might well have been Bru because he said
he "wanted to know a little bit aboot Gord's sailing and aboot that song and wondering aboot how that song came along"
Gord's response was
"but really it's about George Mackinary's big old yacht "the silverheels" at one time the biggest motor yacht in the.....
but really the song was written basically for fun it's not about a sailboat at all but about a "stinkpots".
silverheels was a beautiful boat it's no longer around but it was a motorboat
I think "stinkpots" was the word he used possibly in reference to a motor boat being "smelly"??
here is one (probably latter-day) "silverheels"
by no means a smelly motorboat!!!
http://www.lakeontario300.org/images/participants/silverheels.jpg
and this 1935 silverheels is hardly a yacht!

I call her Silverheels
And she leans into the wind
She's a good old boat and she'll stay afloat
Through the toughest gales and keep smilin'

A 'stinkpot' referes to a boat that uses gas and oil for power-the smell is stinky. I've heard Gord or read his story about the "stinkpot' and Mr.McNamara somewhere before...
George McNamara???There was a George McNamara on the old 1914 Stanley Cup winning Toronto hockey team...don't imagine it was his tho....

It's up, in three parts. See http://www.fan590.com/gallery/hotAudio.jsp and scroll down to listen to all three.

Listening to part 3, they're discussing The Last Time I Saw Her and Gord mentions that song was recorded in one take ("well rehearsed but we did it in one take.") They also discuss "Black Day in July" towards the end of this segment; interesting comments.
