I am trying to find a CD of an album I grew up with and finding it difficult to impossible to find in CD. Someone was selling it on eBay but someone put in one last bid and beat me. It's the Best of GL published in 1970 by United Artists. The songs are Go Go Round, Softly, The Way I Feel, For Lovin Me, Early Mornin Rain, I'm Not Sayin, Black Day in July, Did She Mention My Name, Bitter Green, Pussywillows Cat Tails and Canadian Railroad Trilogy. Any advice?

Kilgore, this comes too late but I saw that very CD here in Phoenix at a record store called Zia. It's unfortunatly no longer there,as I was there last week and didn't see it where it had been. Check around used record & CD stores, someone's bound to have it. Later. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

Yeah, buy United Artists Collection (2 CD set for basically the price of one CD) and then burn your own with just the songs you want in the order you want them ... or suffer a lot and play the whole thing.

I reckon that particular best of CD is no longer available.
Recently Gaby here heard from Linus that they would be facilitating pre-orders for the upcoming Harmony album through this site http://www.mymusic.com
I looked at that site and found that they have a very comprehensive listing of Gord's CDs with many short clips."Your" CD is marked N/A and is detailed at:- http://www.mymusic.com/product.asp?curr=0&muzenbr=119858
but as Valerie Magee said above the 2-CD set is available. Also see my recent illustrated guide to getting the United Artist material at:- http://www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002090.html

Anyway as a Canadian Kilgore then if you are a Lightfoot fan I would have thought it behoves you to get the complete set of 5 UA albums then work on getting the next 14 and of course number 20 in May

Thanks for all the help everyone much appreciated, Lightfoot fans are the best. I do have the UA 2 CD set. One thing it doesn't have is the live version of the Canadian Railroad Trilogy, I know it's picky but I grew up listening to the live version. I know that the Over 60 Minutes has the live version of CRT and may have to get that one instead. Pitty if not in CD, loved that set of songs together

Well, if you already have United Artists Collection, then all you need from the UA period - and to get the live CRT plus 10 other wonderful live tracks from a Massey 1969 concert - is Sunday Concert. There is a single CD of that, and if you get that you will have all of Gord's UA recordings. I'd choose between the US version (called Live!) or the German Bear Family CD Sunday Concert Plus with 5 bonus tracks. The latter is more expensive but most fans think it's worth it. The bonus tracks include songs that were on singles but not albums, plus a couple of tracks that didn't make any commercial record. Two of the most popular are Spin, Spin (a bit of a hit in Canada) and Gord's recording of Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues. If you want an album by album comparison, I have the details on my web site.
