I grew up with Bluegrass from my father.. and didn't have much of a stomach for it... I've always liked Lightfoot though, saw him a few times now as an adult. I just got the Rice does Lightfoot album again... Tremendous. What a talent. I remember a lot of lightfoot songs from when I was a kid as Rice singing them before I heard Lightfoot's origonal version. Dont sleep on this album, one of the best bluegrass albums ever.
It seems like some of Lightfoot's songs were meant to be done as Rice does them with a bluegrass touch in this album...
I read an interview with Rice saying he's ok with it and it's always been about the guitar, but damn, what a shame he cant sing anymore.
I hope he can find his voice again.

I still would pay just to see him play guitar though.

I totally agree with you. I discovered Tony Rice very lately through this album "T. Rice sings G.L" and think that it is a real beauty. In the same way, this album permitted me to discover many songs from G.L.

I love Bluegrass too, I like the music of Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Roy Clark, etc., including the recent work by Nickel Creek. Forgive me if I repeat a previous post here, but I thought that Tony Rice's work was good, however some songs don't work. Such as, "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" doesn't translate well to bluegrass. But "Home from the forest", "Ten Degrees," and "16 miles" are fabulous!!!
