I put this here where most ppl will see it but I'm going in for an aortic ultrasound myself. Should be nothing, but it's still unnerving.

Sure hope all goes well, Gord. Medical tests are never fun.

Better to know than be caught unaware. Folks who have family members with aneurysms should themselves be checked since it *can* be familial (which doesn't mean if nobody in your family has had an aneurysm you're home free - can happen to anybody.)

Thinking of you, Gord.......

Don't know if this is the result of personal symptoms or just pre-cautionary because of family history, but I am glad to see that you are taking the bull by the horns.

Knowledge is power.

We'll be hoping for good news.

At least you should get some quick feedback...nothing's worse than having a test and having to wait a week for the results!

Thanks everyone unfortunately for me I got lucky and inherited most of the medical problems in my immediate family, I have had high BP since I was 22 and figured it would be another 10 years before I would be assessed for an aneurism. Could have knocked me over with a feather when my GP scheduled me for one. Considering how lethal these things can be, rather know now if something is starting to happen. But as my GP it's highly unlikely something will be revealed but ya never know.

It's a good thing that you are getting it checked out. At least then you can take a deep breath of relief and know that all is well. Myself, dad, brother, uncles etc. will have to checked for the same exact thing that you are because my grandfather had it.

I know exactly how you felt because a surgeon told me that he wanted me to have a procedure done a couple of months ago and I was freaked as it came from out of left field. Man, I am very thankful for all the tests that can be performed to catch things before they can become a problem but geeze, it's the anticipation that get's ya. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Oh I have been around, I just haven't posted anything of late because there really isn't much news about GL etc. Also when you are told you are a possible candidate for a time bomb in your abdomen your priorities tend to shift. Haven't really spent much time on the computer, been busy trying to look after my dad ( he's still kinda wonky after his surgery)been outside enjoying the nice weather, going for bike rides and fishing etc.

The more I think about my situation and that of my dad's I am really tempted to sit down and fire off a letter to Gord Lightfoot. It's just too bizarre how much the 3 of us have in common the last few months.
