ardent GL fans who are happy to put up with what is invariably a less than perfect picture quality, quite possibly because 1979 was just before the availability of reaonably priced Video Cassette Recorders, my first one a long failed Sony Betamax I acquired for just under my tsrget of £300 in 1982 (just in time to record much of the review of the UK's regrettable Falklands War with the Argie-Bargies which had then just ended.)
I umderstand that Soundstage 1979 has been repeated on Canadian Television since 1979 but I am told by the prominent corfid poster who recorded it then that the colour was much the same so possibly there were problems in the original filming/taping.
Nrevertheless a profiteering opportunist has
made a DVD version which is often seen on ebay with what somebody once said was artwork done in Japan

i have a copy of theDVD
and was rather disappointed to find that its picture quality was not really any better than a VHS copy I have that I think is probably at least a third generation copy. And yes Gordon receives a vase of flowers and proceeds to pretend to drink from it

What do you mean by Soundstage being repeated in Canada since 1979?

exactly what I said. I simply cannot fathom out the reasoning behind your reply
I said:-
"I umderstand that Soundstage 1979 has been repeated on Canadian Television since 1979"
to translate
"I understand" (OK silly typo in my original) = I think or am led to believe
"Soundstage 1979" = a PBS originated recording of a Chicago television studio performance
repeated = shown on television again
"Canadian Television" = what they watch in the Great White North
"since 1979" = since its first showing back in 1979
Does that answer your question enough??

Well how could it have been repeated in Canada?

None of the older Soundstage shows have ever been reshown and as I said in the past WTTW-TV can't do that with the older shows so my question is pretty logical.

Sir John,

To be honest, I got the impression from your post that since 1979 the Soundstage performance has been playing repeatedly on Canadian TV. I was thinking about applying for citizenship.

I suggest you get a DVD burner at a local electronics store or discount store and make yourself a DVD for preservation.
