I've been reading postings about favorite songs by Gord. I have to say Seven island Suite is one of my favorites too. I come from the same neck of the woods as Gord, and understand where he's coming from. I sense a lot of pain and frustration in Seven Island suite. Most people where I'm from aren't too emotional, and keep a lot of things inside. I feel he was letting some of it out in that song. He seemed mad at the world. One line that is SO true is "Brother's will desert you when you're down and shi* out of luck"

I think when all is said and done, my favorite Gord song will be the "The Watchman's
Gone". Just because there's so much imagery, symbolism, just plain great 12 string work.
Even the drums are more keyed in with the
bass and the 12-string, just a great piece of work. And, of course, Gord's singing is,
what can I say, quintessential.
