Whispers of the North 15 Ringneck Loon 3
Seems like no contest on this one. I'm with the majority too. I love the sound of Whispers. The harmonies are awesome and I always enjoy the loon call at the beginning. I haven't posted a showdown for a while, so I decided I'd better revive them before they get lost in the archives. So for number 22, I'm pitting two seafaring songs together. I'm curious to see what the thought is on the following matchup:
Triangle
vs.
Ghosts of Cape Horn
They're both great songs, so I think the voting will be tight, but you tell me...Which do you prefer in this showdown.
Have fun.
MM
P.S. Next time I'll put the history of the votes at the end so that you don't have to scroll down all the time.

You're right, this is really a toughie! I have to go with Triangle, and if I'm outvoted, I'll just say "it's a mighty fine way to go down".

That's quite a pair of songs M.M.! ;) Much as I love "Ghosts Of Cape Horn" (especially the whistling),I have to go a few points higher with,of course,"Triangle".
Jaunty and fun to sing along with. :)

I was so sure there would be "no contest" for this, that is how much I like Ghosts.

Triangle. One of the first 12-string songs I learned.
Hi...new to the forum...I grew up in Michigan near the Ontario border...listening to Gordon since '66. My favorite song of his is Pussywillows, Cattails....always such a clear picture of the seasons back home...what I miss most out here in beautiful Sonoma County, California, besides my family, that is...Such a great portrait of what the countryside is like in that part of the world throughout the year...Thanks Gordie!

Triangle by a mile the imagery and humo(u)r is simply fantastic
"And as they lay sleeping down there in the deep
With their faces turned up to the stars
A tuna fish turned to a mermaid in bed and said
"There goes another sandbar""
http://www.tropicalboat.com/sandbar.jpg
just one of many pictures you can find by doing a google image search for "sandbar""
John Fowles
IMHO Triangle is Unbeatable!!!
Besides which this line says it all
"So hand me my grip from an old sailing ship "

that SKYPIC (http://www.skypic.com) site is something else!!
Somewhat at random I selected the listing for pictures of San Diego since it is unbelievably almost a year since Susan and I flew there to attend the El Cahoon casino concert. The first night we stayed at a nice hotel not far from the Coronada Del Mar Hotel shown here as a collection of red roofs at the middle of the photograph
http://www.skypic.com/sand/11-6522.jpg
we chose that location so that Susan could make her maiden toe dipping in the Pacific, which on an overcast day was disappointingly not blue but murky grey
John Fowles
but the hotel itself did not disappoint

Ghosts of Cape Horn.
Damn I have stuffed up. My response looks to be be relevant to the topic.
Perhaps I should select a random word ,Google it and post a picture. Nah that may set off a demarcation dispute. :D

I recognize tha hotel! :) When my family lived in S.D. in the late 70s we went by that quite a few times.
Not only that, but Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz used that in a stock footage shot for "The Lucy Desi Comedy Hour". The episode (sort of) took place at that hotel. :)
