This songs lyrics intrigue me. I am curious
about anyone's interpretation of them.

Is this a song about someone who is dying
'I've made my peace','bent on hell','not looking very well'

I don't get the comments about 'losers'
and 'they didn't find a dime'...

This is one of my favorite songs...

It is about a young man heading home...He is in the U.S. heading back to Canada..."headin' for the border bent for hell"...

..."Service station man agreed I didn't look too well"...If you have ever traveled long distances by car or hiked you never look too well...

When you travel over the border there is sometimes a "search" for contraband...In this case they didn't find anything...

I could go on and on...I love this song...

Mountains and Maryann is also one of my favorites. Living in the Pacific Northwest, there are plenty of mountains to pass through on the road to just about anywhere. Whenver I am headed out for a drive, I make sure I have a copy of M&M in the car stereo. I crank up the volume, open the sun roof, and sing to my heart's content. I especially love the lyrics:

All is well
The foothills are coming in to sight
Today is just a memory, the future is tonight
And the red pines will bow their heads
The rivers and the watersheds will carry us along

This song is about leaving all your worries behind and joining your love in the mountains. What a great idea!
