That's what we "old fogies" used to listen to when you were a sparkle in your daddy's eye, Mike! (Love the picture, Stationmaster!)

"78s" were records that were used from the 1930s until about the early 60s (very few in use by then); it had to do with the rpm (revolutions per minute) that the record made on the turntable--78s turned at 78 rpm, 45s (used for singles) at 45 rpms, and regular LPs ("long-playing" records, or albums) played at 33 1/3 rpms. Therefore, he enjoyed dancing all night to Old Dan's old 78 rpm records. Hope you enjoyed the history lesson.

..and,obviously,just like the vinyl albums, the 78's had a small hole in the center instead of a larger one like 45rpm's.

I still have some of my family's old ones but one that's gone is "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby. It was colored yellow! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/eek.gif

I do have a rare Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Christmas record though! I got it for $1!! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

Lucky me! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif
