Lightfoot remains in stable condition
HAMILTON (CP) -- Gordon Lightfoot remains in stable condition in the intensive care unit of a local hospital a week after being admitted with severe abdominal pains.

His surgeon, Dr. Michael Marcaccio, said Saturday the folk music icon is "holding his own," but no other details on Lightfoot's condition were released.

Lightfoot began showing signs of improvement on Tuesday, several days aftwer he was admitted.

The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, whose hits include Sundown, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and If You Could Read My Mind, was flown to the hospital by air ambulance from Orillia, Ont., early last Sunday after being forced to cancel a performance.

Updates on Lightfoot's condition are being posted on the hospital's Web site at www.hamiltonhealthsciences.ca. (http://www.hamiltonhealthsciences.ca.)

Thanks Char I too read this today, to be in ICU after a week is kinda unusual isn't it? Kinda makes ya wonder what is going behind the scenes that they aren't willing to say.

Maybe they are keeping him there so he's not bombarded with people in a regular ward?

thanks for the update, Char. as for wondering what 'they' are not telling us - they don't have to tell us anything, you know. We are all worried, yes indeed. But his family and doctors will let us know, I am sure of this.

Things are certainly getting preachy around here.

Nobody is getting 'preachy'. We are simply
sharing information and trying to be there
for each other. This is a dreadful time for
Gord, his family and friends ... that means
us, so we are trying to support each other
here. It is not being preachy.

Ditto. Very stressful times for sure.

We all love Gordy alot but, worry will not do much good--no matter the good intention(s) behind it.

A great antidote for worry is Action.(IE: continue to pray/chant/meditate like crazy until he is "out of the woods").

You'd be suprised as to what can happen if every one of us put worry out of our minds & focused only on confident prayers like: "He WILL get better"! (not "I hope he get's better" or "Please make him better").

Here's a great site to check out: http://www.healing-arts.org/children/cp/cpprayer.htm

All the best to Gordy & his loved ones.

Hi The Judge Upon the Bench,

Sometimes we all need to take the tarnished cross into our hand, stand like a preacher and shout across the ocean to the shore.
