In the songbook, Gord said there was a bit of a yodel in the original recording, but that bit the dust somewhere along the way. But there is a yodel in the recording on Gords Gold as well.(Isn't the one on Songbook the original)?

DMD3: SRB first appeared on the United Artists release in March, 1966 entitled simply "Lightfoot." This was Gord's very first commercially-released album on a major label as a single performer.

It's not the fact that one can't spell that repels girls, it's the fact that they'll get made fun of for it.

No,there is absolutely no yodeling on either version. Take it from me! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif I;m sure his spelling was on purpose,I don't know anyone who spells that bad, although I'm sure there may be a few that do. Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

It's a possibility that Gord did some yodeling on an earlier take of the song. When recording, artists generally do several takes and pick the one they like best, or even pick segments of several takes and piece them together.
I've never heard the yodeling version of it, though.

I guess someone could consider the "Ooo, ooo, ooo, oo, oo, ooh" to be similar to a yodel, but only in the broadest interpretation of a yodel! For the rest of you old-timers (like me), remember the Swiss Miss ads? "Yodel-ay-ee-OOO...Swiss Miss, etc. etc."

I know I did consider it as yodeling but he does it in the re-make to so I guess it's not yodeling after all.

I think Gord was trying to make more like a train whistle than a yodel.

No offense meant or anything like that but he wasn't doing a very good job.
He did make a wind rushing noise in the version on Gords Gold though.
